Exotic elegance interpreted
by a gifted designer.
This sophisticated and complex
ebonized and gilt-decorated
cherrywood easel, circa 1875,
is most certainly by Herter.
It reflects what was promoted
by Chritopher Dresser of the
Arts and Crafts movement.
An easel; of this caliber most
certainly graced the home
of a distinguished patron of
the arts. Particular noteworthy
are the elephant head supports.
It now awaits a new owner,
Carpe Diem.
