The most large and impressive Charles X
sinumbra lamp c.1825 retains a period
cut and etched glass shade and
crystal pendants. The cast bronze standard
is decorated with classical motifs as well
as Gothic themes. Similar lamps are
illustrated in Ackermann’s Repository.
The sinumbra form is the most desirable
of the 19th century lighting styles sought by
collectors and designers of sophisticated taste.
