A rare New York Gothic Revival

The French refer to this form as an" encoignure".
New Yorks' know cabinetmakers had
access to the latest Continental styles.The source
for this design was published in Paris around 1839
by Michel Jansen.The treatment consists of
a domical pediment surmounted by a fruiting
finial above three graduated tiers seperated
by pierced Gothic arches.The pair paneled bowed
doors below rest on a molded plinth.
