Andrew Jackson Downing in The Architecture of Country Houses, 1850,
illustrated (figure 254, page 438) a "light table in rosewood by Roux,"
which is remarkably similar to our table. Three examples of this important
table are known to us — one in a distinguished private collection, another
in the octangular library of the Hudson River villa, Rokeby, and this
example. Rosewood table. Height 22-1/4 in., Width 27 in. Price $8,500.
